It is more Comfortable in the Middle

I am confounded by politicians inability to navigate to the "middle" where all the votes are. Solve this riddle and things here in the USA will improve quickly. To illustrate where I am politically, I offer the following partial list of positions that align in nearly equal parts with views on the left or the right with a definite slant towards Freedom and Personal Liberty:


I am against Big Government and Big Government Spending. I do believe there are certain important but more limited rolls for government. Big Brother needs to simplify all regulation and generally reduce "welfare" benefits.

I am against higher taxes.

I believe there is a big problem with "tenured" public employees and their wages and pensions that are now out of sync with the private sector and therefore inherently unsustainable.

I am for comprehensive immigration policy that includes:

   Drastically tightening the Borders.

   Revising/restricting the 14th Amendment re: birth in the US.

   Having a no nonsense, rigorous yet possible path to citizenship for those already here.

   

I am for Legalizing most drugs. Eliminating many woes, particularly at the border.

I am for almost every civil liberty, and freedom from government oppression.

I am for targeted investment in clean energy without penalizing the economy.

I am generally pro environmental issues, but think the EPA is generally a mess and like the FDA, FEMA, ETC. ETC. 90% a government bureaucratic waste.

...and from the Left:

I am for enhancement not reduction of social security (this will be a serious need)

I am also for a "basic services" one payer, health care system that provides a reasonable level of care. Those wishing more, can pay for add on plans. I believe the current Obama Care is a complex "obamanation."

I am for a woman's right to choose.

I believe in both Freedom of and Freedom from Religion, AS IT WAS INTENDED !!!

I am for a strong Defensive and Strategic Military but believe that extended, on the ground efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan are foolish and mostly a waste of precious resources.
